![]() | 1)Attacking Blocks: The name "Attacking Blocks" itself seems an oxymoron- the word "block" seems reactive and defensive-how can one "attack" with blocks? If you have the answer to this question, your fighting skills have a whole new dimension and the door to all kinds of possibilities is yours.
2)Combining Stick and Footwork: The FMA are rightly famous for their footwork, yet most people find it very hard in real time to move their feet and the stick(s) at the same time in anything except linear forward and backward shuffling. In this the first tape of the second series, Guro Crafty introduces the training methods to bring out the ability to functionally combine stick and footwork that he has used to the real time success of those who train with him. 3)Cycle Drills: In this DVD we turn to using these ideas and many new ones in the context of the footwork of "lower canines" (inside and outside male) triangles as well. The lower canine triangles are ideal for both probing attacks (if successful, continue the attack and if not, break off) and for countering aggressive linear attacks. To train these ideas Guro Benjamin "Lonely Dog" Rittiner (Guro Crafty's top student and a very highly regarded fighter) shows us the "DBMA Cycle Drills". 4) Krabi Krabong: One of the things we say about Dog Brothers Martial Arts is that it is "a system of many styles". Our idea is that while there is no one answer to all questions, we want there to be an coherent inner logic to the different elements in our curriculum-- in short a SYSTEM. 5)Los Triques: Over time we have developed a distinctive blend of KK and Filipino Kali that we think has a lot of fighting merit. The initials of the two combined would yield KKK-- which would be highly subject to misunderstanding! So we call our blend of the two "Los Triques" meaning "the three Ks". 6)Snaggle Tooth Variations: This DVD builds upon "Combining Stick & Footwork". CS&F was the first DVD for Dog Brothers Martial Arts and was the first DVD after our "Real Contact Stickfighting" series. As a fighter and as a teacher, it is my experience that most people do not move their feet well in good integration with their hitting during a fight. It is also my experience that most people feel incredibly Caucasian when going through the training necessary to achieve skills that will actually appear in the adrenal state. This is why CS&F took a "basic building blocks" kind of approach. 7) Staff: We are taught we should be able to adapt and improvise with items we can pick up in our various environments-- yet the simple fact is that many items that one might find (brooms, poles, long sticks, 2x4s, shovels, pipes, branches, heavy bars etc.) require two hands |
