Petrilli focuses his training on the “three Ds”: defend, disarm and disable. That means that when you’re unarmed against an attacker with a weapon, you must enter quickly to get inside the attack and stop him with a series of brutal strikes before he can achieve momentum. Then you disarm him, taking the weapon away so you can use it against him in a lock or a throw to ultimately disable him. In addition, Petrilli teaches kamot applications for many of these techniques: locks, chokes and throws against an unarmed opponent.
